This bug started with simply turning on existing networking support. I've just read over all the messages and from memory there are problems with turning them all on at once.
Now the patch that Fr?d?ric sent in does something completely different and adds a whole bunch of new code. Unfortunately we can't add this so close to release. Now if there was a way to build the existing network drivers and put them in a seperate package. That would probably be acceptable. I would prefer not to see a whole another copy of the grub images and tools with networking support (see the patch from junichi). As I said in my first reply to this bug. I don't use this feature and know very little about it. So its upto someone else to explain how this works.
