As I maintain backupninja's dup handler, I wonder if I'm going to apply your patch, which is quite hard to document actually: proposing the user an option that he/she has to set for duplicity >=0.4.2, and that is ignored for previous versions, can be quite >a mess for her/him to understand. I tend to think I'm simply going to keep the current code, and clearly state (in the example.dup file and in NEWS.Debian) that the sshoptions option has to be fed in a scp *and* sftp-compatible way, using the "-o" workaround for example.
