Package: snort Version: 2.3.0-7 Severity: minor NEWS.Debian.gz is not displayed automatically on upgrade (e.g., by apt-get working with apt-listchanges and appropriate options). Almost certainly the reason is that the file is not in the correct format. I believe it needs a time/version line like the ones that go in the changelog.
The file is installed; messages to the same effect are displayed by the installation scripts; and the changelog does refer to the NEWS file. However, some people may not look so carefully :) Thanks for your work on the package. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (600, 'testing'), (50, 'unstable'), (40, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.27adnvcd Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages snort depends on: ii adduser 3.63 Add and remove users and groups ii debconf 1.4.30.11 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libpcap0.8 0.8.3-5 System interface for user-level pa ii libpcre3 4.5-1.1 Perl 5 Compatible Regular Expressi ii logrotate 3.7-2 Log rotation utility ii snort-common 2.3.0-7 Flexible Network Intrusion Detecti ii snort-rules-default 2.3.0-7 Flexible Network Intrusion Detecti ii sysklogd [system-log-daemon 1.4.1-16 System Logging Daemon -- debconf information: * snort/startup: boot snort/please_restart_manually: * snort/stats_treshold: 0 * snort/address_range: 128.218.0.0/16,127.0.0.1/32 * snort/options: * snort/interface: eth0 * snort/stats_rcpt: root * snort/config_parameters: snort/config_error: * snort/reverse_order: false * snort/disable_promiscuous: true -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
