Hi, I figured out today that in etch autofs still loads before nis. This does not allow to load automounter-maps from nis, which I used to do and which is documented in /usr/share/doc/autofs/Readme.Debian (setting automount: nis in /etc/nsswitch.conf). I manually moved autofs to init level 20, which solved the problem.
