If moving the mouse pointer over the video triggers the problem, I don't think the problem lies in libcdio. Moving the mouse pointer over the video should make no difference to libcdio. Then I think the bug lies somewhere in libxine1 or xine-ui that changes some values they should not change. Have you considered trying to run xine with valgrind (as you are running on i386)?
