I've tested scorched3d now on several i386 machines with different graphic adaptors, kernel versions and drivers. On all of them it segfaults right at the start without displaying even the menu.
I really think this bug should be upgraded to "grave". (On my Powerbook it actually shows the menu, so perhaps the bug is i386 specific).
