Simply because it involves the include path that is automaticaly generated during the configuration, and it would imply patching the configuration scripts, and we try not to do it as possible, it is a real mess when it comes to new release upstream. Also I suspect the include path to be of a particular attention when it comes to security issues, so better not change it too.
