This is to acknowledge your last post to the BTS log. I have read it, and have only two comments to add at present:
1. The control-file description must remain as brief as possible. One begrudges every line. The description need give only enough information to let the sysadmin decide if he wants to install the package and learn more. (A few Debian packages have long descriptions. Sometimes this is necessary, but in general I think it a mistake.) The description should also enjoy a degree of concise rhetorical flair. So, sterile accuracy there was never my aim. The description you see, I wrote in many, many revisions in 2002 and 2003, weighing each word. Naturally, the wordsmith may be flawed! Improvements are acceptable and appreciated, but disagreement as to what constitutes an improvement remains possible. I admit a degree of subjective attachment to the existing paragraph, which does not necessarily apply to the manpage as a whole. 2. The "library" thing is a problem. Neither "university library" nor "public library" is quite right, since a library with a catalog system can be one or the other, both or neither. I have never asked which country is yours, but in mine, many non-academic public libraries have regrettably become unpleasant places, for reasons which have nothing to do with cataloging. May I avoid the association of "public library" for this reason? Plain "library", I feel, does not work in a Debian context. Still, if "university library" does not sit right with you, since "bibliotheque" is no proper English word, perhaps "book library," "library of books," or "academic library." See what you can do with this. I do not really like "university library," either, now that you point it out. On the other hand, it's an analogy not a definition; exact precision may not absolutely be required. As I write this e-mail, Tyler Kramer, a friend here on my end, suggests "library catalog system" in place of "university library." This strikes me as not a bad idea. Please proceed with your debram work as time permits. The development aid is appreciated.
