On my system maxima itself does not work (see [1]); so I cannot
say if it is _also_ a wxmaxima bug.
Did you retry to re-compile _only_ maxima? Or do you need to
recompile _also_ wxmaxima to get things working?
If _only_ maxima rebuild it is needed, I suggest to merge this
bug with #385703.

Another thing: this bug report is tagged with "patch"; however I
don't see any patch in the BTS. If the tag was added by an
error, please remove it.
