Look at the README.Debian upgrade documentation and you'll see. Points 4 and 9 to be precise. Copying those php files onto those symlinks will give you files in the location where the symlink points to (i.e. /etc/mediawiki1.5) Now, point 9 tells me to move those symlinks into /etc/mediawiki1.5 > > > all the files, in fine, are in /var/lib/mediawiki not un share.. > > > > I guess you mean /var/lib/mediawiki1.5, right? > > It is the same thing for all packages, see below.. No. They are two different directories. europa:~# l -d /var/lib/mediawiki1.5 /var/lib/mediawiki drwxr-xr-x 4 www-data www-data 4096 Sep 7 18:55 /var/lib/mediawiki drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 Sep 15 19:19 /var/lib/mediawiki1.5 europa:~# > > Of course, that raises the question why a (plain fresh installed) > > mediawiki1.5 is looking for /usr/share/mediawiki1.5/LocalSettings.php in > > the first place. > > Simply because we seperate the files and put those that are not meant to > be > modified in /usr/share and those that are meant to be changed to /var/lib Then the upgrade documentation in README.Debian is wrong and needs to be fixed accordingly.
