   I documented the .zilerc to .zile migration of 2.2 in the NEWS.Debian
file. The config file changes about the backup system are also
documented there.

   I think that this note plus the change of behavior of zile (and
eventually the error message as the one Robert has seen) will be enough
for the user to understand the config file migration.
