It is because nested-tables is on by default (upstream change)
and I guess there are two solutions.

If you want nested-tables to be off system-wide, you need
to edit /etc/lynx-cur/lynx.cfg as
NESTED_TABLES: false

and if it is sufficient to turn it off with run-time option
you can call lynx with -nested_tables i.e. "lynx -nested_tables"

Anyway, this would be a rather big change so I'll write a
brief comment in README.Debian or somewhere.
