My freshly downloaded usb.ids from running update-usbids was left in gzip format.

This is actually totally normal, as usbutils is now able to read gzipped
files. Closing the bug.


OK, could the fact that the usb.ids file might be in gzipped format be documented on the update-usbids manual page?
