Package: python-samba
Version: 3.0.23c-1
Severity: normal

If the user ever used the samba python modules as root, *.pyc (and
possibly *.pyo) files would have been created in the old
 /usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/samba
dir. Upon update from python2.3-samba, said directory will then not be
removed, since it is not empty.

Not having created those files on postinst and removed them on prerm
is a violation of the (old) python policy on python2.3-samba's
part. As that package is disapearing, I think it is this package's
responsability to clean up after it.

The cleanup should probably be attempted on preinst. I realize there
might be issues about detecting if the presence of the dir really
means python2.3-samba was installed, but currently have no ideas about
how to handle that, if it's really a problem at all.
