linux-m is the linux console with colours disabled. The terminfo file in in the ncurses-term package. > Is it a problem that background color is black ? Aah, yes. I've just tried reversing the terminal colours with setterm -foreground black -background white -store and the missing text is now visible. The selected item in drop-down menus is still not reverse video, but that is the case with TERM=linux too, so maybe that's just how it's done in the latest version.
