Package: hylafax-server
Version: 2:4.3.0-7
Severity: minor

emails notifying the submitter of job status appear to be sent from
[EMAIL PROTECTED] This caused the mails to be rejected by my newly careful
email setup, as sender verification failed. There is no fax user on
the system.

hylafax is installed with the faxmaster account. Perhaps that should
be the sender's address? Of course, it would be undesirable for any
actual mail (e.g., bounce messages) to go the the faxmaster mailbox.
That's a fairly generic issue with system users, though I don't know
what the generic solution is.

Finally, in a situation that may be more peculiar to my setup, the
address appears as my public domain, [EMAIL PROTECTED] (made up names to
slow the spammers). The system is actually [EMAIL PROTECTED], so it seems
likely the lookup would fail anyway if b.foo.com were my only system
with hylafax. (It's not; the system that the verification spoke to
also has the faxmaster user).

I think the domain issues are mostly my problem, but they may indicate
that it would be good to allow administrators some control over the
domain of the return address.

I don't know where the return address is set, or if it something that
can be changed in the current config files; I suspect it's hard-wired
into, e.g., bin/notify.

Ignoring the domain issue, I see several possible routes:
1) change the sender to be a real user, i.e., faxmaster.
2) create the user "fax" on installation.
3) leave as is, but document.
4) create a configuration variable that can be set to address of the
admin's preference (this assumes there is no such variable now).
