Anyway, I've filed a new bug report (Bug#385400: Acknowledgement (swat: SWAT segfaults when fiddling with printer settings)). Debugging symbols for swat might be helpful. Could I recompile swat with debugging symbols straightforwardly?

"DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=debug dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -uc -us -B" should get
you binaries that are built with debugging options, although the final
package building will fail for other reasons, but you can grab the swat
binary out and copy it to /usr/sbin/swat easily enough for testing purposes.

It built fine for me as above and so I did dpkg -i on the swat .deb it created, moved "use client driver = Yes" from the [global] section to the [CANON] section and have so far been unable to reproduce the problem I had, even after switching back to the Debian Unstable swat package.

I've left the debug version of swat installed and will report back if I have any more problems.

I'm cc'ing this to both [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED], but further discussion should be on #385400.

Regards,

Arthur.
