Package: openoffice.org Version: 2.0.3-2 Severity: normal OOo ignores the Xft settings, set in the GNOME control panel. Here are my current settings: Xft.antialias: 1 Xft.dpi: 96.000000 Xft.hinting: 1 Xft.hintstyle: hintfull Xft.rgba: rgb
As shows the attached screenshot, GNOME (just as most applications using Xft) takes this into account, with sub-pixel rendering and native hinting. However, OOo ignores these settings: it doesn't use sub-pixel rendering, and uses the autohinter instead of the native hinting. This leads to these ugly fonts (especially as the autohinter is very bad at rendering Bitstream Vera). -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16-2-686 Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8)
