Good bug report. This kind of problem has been reported before (#378476, reassigned to ruby1.8), but these kinds of things are notoriously hard to track down -- suffice it to say, I've never had Puppet segfault on *me*, personally. I'll try the exact manifest you're using, in the hope that it might be able to trigger the problem for me, but even then I've never actually managed to track down and solve a segfault deep inside Ruby itself.
