'pkg-config --libs caca' and 'caca-config --libs' don't output the same result. the former is very simple just '-lcaca -lcucul' the latter longer with slang, GL, Glut and ncursesw. VLC's caca module compiles with just -lcaca -lcucul. So maybe it's caca-config which need an update. Or if caca-config is correct, could you make libcaca-dev depends on libncursesw5-dev and freeglut3-dev.
