The default Python string encoding is "ascii". Hence it cannot cope with 
anything
beyond American English. Thus gettext must be told to return unicode (not
"ascii"-encoded) strings on most systems.

Thusly, in /usr/bin/gnumed the --unicode-gettext default should be 1, not 0.

This change, however, needs to deferred until upstreams provides
updated *.mo files.
