Package: bluez-utils Version: 3.1-4 Severity: normal I connect 2 computers thanks to pand and I have noticed in /var/log/daemon.log that no PIN request is made anymore.
The following describes the configuration: * I set two different PINs on each computer to make sure that it is not a log related change * The configuration file hcid.conf is the one shipped with bluez-utils (the option auth recently disappeared from this file) * PAND_OPTIONS is set to "--listen --role PAN --devup /etc/bluetooth/pan/dev-up --auth" on one computer and "--connect AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF --role NAPU --devup /etc/bluetooth/pan/dev-up --auth" on the other * One computer is running Debian/testing (with bluez-utils 3.1-3.1) and the other Debian/unstable (with bluez-utils 3.1-4). I think --auth should demand that the peer authenticate itself (but I could well be wrong since it isn't documented): it is not the case. I tried to add `auth enable;' to /etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf since it is mentioned in hcid.conf (5): the option seems to be obsolete judging by the following line appearing in /var/log/daemon.log: Aug 24 11:17:44 localhost hcid[22524]: Unknown option 'auth' line 60 Please update the man page. I also tried other pand options like --secure and --encrypt, but there still isn't a PIN request for the computers connect to each other. Please explain how to enable PIN authentication for a PAN connection and possibly update the documentation or configuration files.
