Package: swat
Version: 3.0.23b-2
Followup-For: Bug #363523

Hi, similar problems after a WinXP client machine could print test pages
but not print-outs from applications to a printer shared by samba.

I was fiddling with the global printers settings and the printers
settings for the one printer being shared.

Trace follows, then smb.conf.

The Samba 'panic action' script, /usr/share/samba/panic-action,
was called for pid 29122 (/usr/sbin/swat).

Below is a backtrace for this process generated with gdb, which shows
the state of the program at the time the error occurred.

If the problem persists, you are encouraged to first install the
samba-dbg package which contains the debugging symbols for samba
binaries. Then submit the provided information as a bug report to
Debian.
For information about the procedure for submitting bug reports , please
see

I had apparently incorrectly set the path of [printers] to a directory
that was writeable but did not have the sticky bit set. I ended up
manually editing the smb.conf to what it was above to enable printing
from the WinXP client.
