severity 380520 serious stop I can reproduce this problem. If you remove hal, acpid can start without problems. It seems if hald starts after acpid, it works (or at least starts cleanly). But hald is started by udev, so it's hard to control that order sensibly.
Now the problem is that for example powersaved needs both hal and acpid. powersaved is in turn used by kpowersave.
