Package: python-central Version: 0.5.5 Severity: normal
While trying to install python2.5, I found that I couldn't install it due to errors generated by python-central's rtinstall script. Specifically, installing the latest python2.5-minimal generated the following error: Setting up python2.5-minimal (2.5~b3-1) ... Linking and byte-compiling packages for runtime python2.5... pycentral: pycentral rtinstall: installed runtime python2.5 not found pycentral rtinstall: installed runtime python2.5 not found dpkg: error processing python2.5-minimal (--configure): subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 Errors were encountered while processing: python2.5-minimal E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) A package failed to install. Trying to recover: Setting up python2.5-minimal (2.5~b3-1) ... Linking and byte-compiling packages for runtime python2.5... pycentral: pycentral rtinstall: installed runtime python2.5 not found pycentral rtinstall: installed runtime python2.5 not found dpkg: error processing python2.5-minimal (--configure): subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 Errors were encountered while processing: python2.5-minimal This error persisted even though I could see that /usr/bin/python2.5 existed. I worked around the problem by manually removing python-central, configuring python2.5-minimal, then reinstalling python-central. No errors were generated by this process, and python-support didn't complain either. I know python2.5 is new and not yet supported (which is why I left the severity low), but I don't think python-central being installed should prevent the installation of it. If I'm wrong, please let me know.
