quik just mounts 1 ext2 partition and reads etc/quik.conf, loads kernel and initrd from the pathnames indicated in quik.conf. So if you want a split /boot and root, you need to put your kernel(s) in /boot and put quik.conf in /boot/etc/quik.conf.
