I see from that file that you were trying to use Octave 2.9, which is
the development version of Octave and is affected by constant
interface changes and has changed interfaces from Octave 2.1 already.

TeXmacs' Octave plugin doesn't support the upcoming Octave 3.0
yet, not even in the latest CVS version of TeXmacs.

While making the plugin _load_ with Octave 2.9 is quite easy (see
attached patch), several functionalities of the plugin will fail, as
the plugin contains copies of many plotting functions of older Octave
versions, that were modified to interface with texmacs.

However, these functions have changed their implementation (and also
interfaces) significantly. Merging their and TeXmacs' changes in a way
that they keep their desired behavior and work with both Octave 2.1
and 2.9 seems to be an extensive task and almost looks like rewriting
many of its parts.

Please go for a stable Octave release, if you want to use the TeXmacs
plugin. Even Octave 2.1 (their testing branch) is problematic at times
as the plugin was written for the stable release (2.0). Unfortunately,
the stable Octave release is not contained in Debian. Patches are
welcome ... :-/

        Sorry,
                René
