Indeed, the Debian kernel (and the upstream kernel) doesn't support the hotkeys_over_acpi option. I don't know if this was an Ubuntu specific hack in their kernel or something else. In any case, it looks like the toshiba_acpi driver from the 2.6.17 kernel uses ACPI to forward hotkeys by default if it's enabled. So this "modprobe" configuration file is no more required. Thus the instructions in the README do not make sense any more and I'm removing the README as well. Now, if you're reporting this bug I suppose that your hotkeys are not working... or are they?
