Maybe I didn't study the docs enough. (phew, at least the manpage
doesn't mention it)
BTW: I think it's good that way - the complexity problem only arises
for people who can handle it. Like that, there's flexibility and
simplicity at the same time.

I can imagine people doing static IP's will need that - for now, I
mainly do dhcp.
If you're using DHCP why do you need the mac address at all?!
Hmm, my DHCP out IP configuration depending according to MAC adresses,
and I don't want my MAC adresses being randomly generated. That's one
of the way dhcp can be used.
