Thank you for the (non-)reference.

I find no evidence of this bug being "a severe violation of Debian
policy". Neither does it "in the package maintainer's opinion [make]
the package unsuitable for release."

More specifically, describing ways to abuse the package beyond its
documented limitations is not (by itself) a violation of policy.


I consider this bug "very difficult to fix due to major design
considerations." I agree with Sven that it is not very difficult to
add limited support, but truly fixing this bug is, I believe, simply
outside the design of the tool.


I thus lower severity to wishlist.


I welcome patches to (partly, even, as Sven suggests) fix this bug.
