Hi, I installed with the beta 3 of the debian-installer for Etch and I it is really strange to see that libc6-amd64 gets installed. This is not right, as I assume that the majority of systems that install Etch-i386 is not amd64-compatible. (After all, there is also an amd64 port.)
Please remove this package from the standard installation, may it offer additional features or not: the system can run without it.
