I get this error as well. More detailed output, if it can help, is:

Removing /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.1.2/xineplug_inp_smb.so solves it indeed.
I am on amd64 too. Is this amd64 only?

PS. This obviously affects not only xine-ui and gxine, but also things like
xfmedia and anything else that depends on libxine1.
