You can select additional locales if you install at medium priority or in expert mode. I doubt we will want to install the old locales by default, although it should theoretically be possible to add this functionality in localechooser. However, so far you are the first person who has mentioned this. I'm reassigning this to localechooser, but tagging wontfix for now to keep the idea alive for a bit.
