Package: dpkg Version: 1.10.27 Severity: normal File: /sbin/start-stop-daemon
When start-stop-daemon is run with --stop and --pidfile, it does not delete the old pidfile. If it is subsequently run again, even if the original process is not running, start-stop-daemon will still use the old pidfile and attempt to kill the process again. This can lead to inadvertantly killing an otherwise unrelated process that happens to have the same pid tha the daemon referenced in the pidfile used to have. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.10-1-686 Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages dpkg depends on: ii dselect 1.10.27 a user tool to manage Debian packa ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
