Hi I keep thinking that I must be making some kind of mistake, or somebody else would surely of reported this a long time ago, but I'm having problems building legacy Nvidia Debian kernel module packages using module-assistant. I have the newest versions of the nvidia-kernel-legacy-source and module-assistant packages installed and I've run "module-assistant prepare" and installed all recommended packages. I've also extracted the nvidia-kernel-legacy-source.gz package into the /usr/src/modules and navigated to that directory before trying to build the module for my current kernel. This is where the problems begin. I've had absolutely no problem building any other kernel module so far, but this one currently eludes me. After running the following command... module-assistant auto-build nvidia-kernel-legacy .... a dialog immediately appears with the following text. "Installation of the nvidia-kernel-legacy source failed. Ignoring this package. Maybe you need to add something to sources.list, maybe the contrib and non-free archives." It seems to me that the module code simply isn't being detected, but I have no idea why that is. I've tried running module-assistant directly and using the interface to build it interactively, but I have exactly the same problem. Does anybody know what might be going on here?
