This is documented in README.Debian. If you need to set a font for
standard rxvt (user-level resources, not system-wide), this should not
override urxvt's font -- I would not consider them compatible, because
some users are going to have a non-unicode Rxvt.font. And when you have
a unicode and/or Xft font you want to use, you should explicitly use
URxvt anyway.

If you can fix the font autoselection, or improve the README section,
feel free to add to this bug, but otherwise I think it should be closed.
