Package: debian-installer Severity: wishlist i was attempting to install etch, but the installer failed about halfway through extracting packages. i tried the install twice, and the installer failed at the same point. i finally concluded that the burn was bad. so i reburned the etch d-i disc, and the install went fine. it would be very useful to have a checkmedia boot option to find out if the disc is ok before attempting the install; especially since novice users could interperet a failure like this as a failure of the installer rather than the hardware.
