You are running a kernel which is too old for the current udev in debian
testing/unstable.  (the current udev requires at least a 2.6.15 kernel
in order to function properly).  Since udev isn't working, hal, which
depends on udev isn't working, and therefore, ivman is not working
becuase it depends on hal.

What version of udev do you currently have installed?
