This is unfortunately not possible as long as I use aptitude; pkgsync2 might work differently (ie. work against apt directly, being a C++ program instead of a shell script), but I doubt it will be written for some time. Thanks for the bug report, though :-)
Aptitude has a simulate option. Why can't it be used?
