echo snd-powermac >> /etc/modules

and forget about the alsaconf script. It is useful for 2.4. I am
wondering why udev doesn't do the job in your case.

BTW, try 2.6.18-rc?. You will have advantages with the new snd-aoa
driver ;) It works great on my PB5,6.
