Hi,
for me PrBoom segfaults after only a few minutes playing. I have tried
it on two of my machines (both AMD64) with Freedoom and also an
original IWAD.
The segfault situation seems to only arise when I shoot at
something. I dont have a dumped core or gdb output at hand but I can
report that the recent upstream version does not suffer these
problems.
I got upstreams recent release PrBoom 2.4.4 which lets me play several
levels without crashing on AMD64. I tried it with Freedoom and an
original IWAD, with and without OpenGL, it yielded a satisfactory
result every time.
Moritz, if you need assistance in packaging a recent PrBoom release
(with binary packages with and without OpenGL), just drop me a message
and I'll be happy to help out. (after my vacation, Aug 19th) I really
think that a recent stable PrBoom should be released with Etch and
that the package with these crashes should not.
