Aha, thanks for the tip! After reading that I looked in the 'mc' help and learned that the 'insert' key is also mapped to do file tagging; I'd never used 'insert' in 'mc' before and am glad to have an alternative. I agree that remapping 'Ctrl-t' to "Panel Codepage" is confusing. "Panel Codepage" seems like a relatively obscure function to deserve premium menu real-estate, let alone usurp an essential function's keystroke.
