Because that's not what's on the build daemons.
The autobuilders have built this package just fine. Similarly
pbuilder has no problems. I'll grant you that in some other world
this would cause an actual problem, eg would prevent the package from
building correctly *for Debian*. But we do not happen to be living in
that world.
(I've already fixed this in CVS. Obviously I don't mind fixing it!
My point is about severity and inappropriate escalation thereof, not
the desirability of avoiding unnecessary gawk-isms or bash-isms.)
