Package: menu-xdg
Version: 0.2.3

after updating my "debian unestable" version of debian, i notice that gnome-panel starts to consume 70-90% of my CPU, and the laptop processors speed was t the maximum. The gnome applications menus was broken, when clicked it starts to blink showhing the menus but stoping you from using them. The places and desktop menus works well.

Workaround:

The problem is fixed if you delete or rename the symlink /etc/xdg/menus/debian-menu.menu that is pointing to the file /var/lib/menu-xdg/menus/debian-menu.menu . This file is an emty text file.

If you delete the gnome-menu bar from the gnome-panel the consuption problem is gone, but the you don't have menu any more.

The symlink with the emty file is restored, and the problem returns, if you make a reintalation of menu-xdg .

debianpcdan:/etc/xdg/menus# ls
debian-menu.menu         gnome-preferences.menu
gnome-applications.menu  gnome-settings.menu
debianpcdan:/etc/xdg/menus# mv debian-menu.menu debian-menu.menu.old
debianpcdan:/etc/xdg/menus# uname -a
Linux debianpcdan 2.6.16-2-686 #1 Sat Jul 15 21:59:21 UTC 2006 i686 GNU/Linux
debianpcdan:/etc/xdg/menus#
debianpcdan:/etc/xdg/menus#

My machine is a
dell latitude 410

running debian unstable
