Forgot to mention that the patch also adds proper dependencies for the udeb. This is possible since a few months (after changes in dpkg and dephelper).
As we are currently working to release the Beta 3 version of Debian Installer and it would be nice to have this fixed for amd64 in time for the release, I have taken the liberty to upload an NMU to the 2-day delayed queue. If you'd prefer to do the upload yourself, please do. That should automatically invalidate the NMU. Or contact me. Attached the full patch of the NMU, including the changelog.
