Forgot to mention that the patch also adds proper dependencies for the udeb. This is possible since a few months (after changes in dpkg and dephelper).
As we are currently working to release the Beta 3 version of Debian Installer and it would be nice to have this fixed for amd64 in time for the release, I have taken the liberty to upload an NMU to the 2-day delayed queue.
