Hello, okay, I can understand the issue with "lp", how should udev easily know that I have a printer and want to print, so it makes some sense that CUPS takes care of that.
But udev 0.093-1 doesn't even load "parport_pc" here. I am pretty sure it did so in earlier versions, cause I did not have it in /etc/modules. On a Toshiba laptop from a customer it does, but here on my IBM ThinkPad T23 (see below) it does not. Is this related to ----------------------------------------------------------------------- udev (0.076-3) unstable; urgency=high [...] * Removed the PNP aliases for parport_pc, which now are provided by the kernel driver. -- Marco d'Itri <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mon, 28 Nov 2005 02:02:31 +0100 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ? Or is it this issue ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - some modules, like the drivers for some ISA PNP devices, lack the sysfs data needed to be automatically loaded and must be loaded manually. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ? Then I don't understand why it apparently worked before. I don't know the exact udev version where this stopped working, but I am pretty sure that it stopped working quite some while after the udev+hotplug merger.
