I assume you mean installserver, say, the machine where the fai-server
package is installed?  (please use that word, it's more clear and it's
the word we use all over).

That is not exactly a way how FAI is intended to be used. The standard
way to use FAI is to install the same distribution as the one on the
install server. In the Wiki it's documented how you can use FAI to
install other distributions, and I made some extra packages for this.
Having another distribution, plus another CPU Bitness is an even more
complex scenario.

It's a good idea to document that, first, maybe in the multidistribution
section. (the packages I made for this are a bit oudated, so you could
add a section about dapper amd64.)

If you find time, please try if the original dapper packages fix the
problem.

We, should see what we can do to incorporate the fixes done in Ubuntu in
upstream FAI, as long as they don't interfere with correct function in
standard Debian.
