With a sufficiently long playlist, RB will not overwrite the "red circle with white dash" symbol mentioned in the original report. Clicking on such a mark opens a dialog box: Playback error Internal data flow error This problem indeed occurs only when you enable "Watch my library for new files" in the preferences. The problem can be triggered in two ways - the "Next" button and using "rhythmbox-client --next".
