I took a look at the patch, here is what I think: A huge part of the nsMIMEInfoUnix.cpp file seems useless since it is already done in nsGNOMERegistry.cpp... It would also be interesting to see if it's not "simply" possible to put all that in the mozgnome component. It wouldn't need all the hackish dlopen thing.
