Package: rxvt-unicode Version: 7.7-4 Severity: normal
urxvtcd currently does this: if ! urxvtc "$@" ; then urxvtd -f exec urxvtc "$@" fi Which starts urxvtd even when it already runs (urxvtc also fails on wrong commandline switches, for example). This is not really harmful, it just eats memory. A better way would be to check for an exit status of 2 (== could not contact daemon), i.e.: #!/bin/sh urxvtc "$@" if [ $? -eq 2 ]; then urxvtd -q -o -f exec urxvtc "$@" fi In addition to -q (quiet), this also specifies -o. The latter has the effect of binding urxvtd to the lifetime of the X session. While there are valid scenarios where you wouldn't want this, I think its best if "urxvtcd" would use that switch, as people expect X programs to exit when the display goes away. Wether using -o or not is a matter of taste, checking the exit status and -q is (IMHO) not :) With those changes, urxvtcd works somewhere similar to other server-based terminals (first call establishes an instance, subsequent calls use it). -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16.9 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages rxvt-unicode depends on: ii base-passwd 3.5.11 Debian base system master password hi libc6 2.3.6-13 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libfontconfig1 2.3.2-1.1 generic font configuration library ii libgcc1 1:4.1.1-5 GCC support library ii libperl5.8 5.8.8-6 Shared Perl library ii libx11-6 2:1.0.0-7 X11 client-side library ii libxft2 2.1.8.2-8 FreeType-based font drawing librar ii libxpm4 1:3.5.4.2-3 X11 pixmap library ii libxrender1 1:0.9.0.2-4 X Rendering Extension client libra ii ncurses-base 5.5-2 Descriptions of common terminal ty rxvt-unicode recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
